It’s not easy to change your name, so why do it?  Bastrop County Animal Shelter Helpers has changed our name to honor a request from the Bastrop County Animal Shelter.  .   At the time our charity was established, we agreed with the shelter that we’d tie our name closely to the shelter’s name to show our connection.  Since then, we have realized that people confuse us….a lot.

We both realized there was too much confusion between the shelter itself and our shelter-helping 501C(3) organization.   At the time our charity was established, we had concurrence to tie our name closely to the shelter’s name.  Since then, we have realized that people confuse us….a lot.

We needed a name that would describe the wide range of things we do to help the shelter: preventing homeless animals, helping the animals in the shelter, and helping get animals adopted.  Many great suggestions were considered – and we realized that so many of them are already in use by other animal welfare groups and businesses. After many months of deliberations, we chose Shelter Pet Safety Net for its descriptive power and uniqueness. 

You will see both names and logos for a while as we transition.  Our new website is https://www.shelterpetsafetynet  and we will be changing the name on our social media sites eventually, so stay tuned.
