Has your pet had a dental exam?

Has your pet had a dental exam?   Shelter Pet Safety Net has funded a few dental exams and procedures for shelter animals whose teeth were in terrible condition.  It can be difficult to notice this sometimes because pets are good at hiding pain.

It is imperative to have your pet’s teeth examined by a vet at the age of 3 years, and annually, to prevent periodontal disease.  Here are a few things you can do to help your pet’s teeth stay healthy to prevent periodontal disease and other related  health issues:

    • Brush pet’s teeth daily with pet friendly paste
    • Use dental additives in water (check with your vet for ideas)
    • Provide dry kibble, chew toys/bones
    • Professional teeth cleaning by your veterinarian

Providing these strategies will keep your pet’s teeth in top shape, warding off more severe health issues related to periodontal disease.  Schedule your pet’s dental exam today – and ask your vet if they have any dental “specials” too.
