Our spay/neuter subsidies cover distemper vaccinations

Shelter Pet Safety Net now ensures our spay/neuter subsidies cover distemper vaccinations if the animal has not been vaccinated.  Thank you for your donations that help us do this work.

Some not-so-fun canine distemper facts, courtesy of the American Veterinary Medical Association:

  • Do you have a ferret? Pet ferrets should be vaccinated against canine distemper using a USDA-approved ferret vaccine.
  • Because canine distemper also impacts wildlife populations, contact between wild animals and domestic dogs can facilitate the spread of the virus. Canine distemper outbreaks in local raccoon populations can signal increased risk for pet dogs in the area.
